Project EK Civic: A Second Chance

Project EK Civic: Second Chance

This is our new 1996 Honda EK Civic Hatchback that we picked up for a staggeringly good deal of only $1400. $1400 dollar cars are no longer something that is possible in the Bay Area, or California in general especially one that is running. But, we managed to find one with a straight body and a brand new engine!

This EK Civic Hatchback is somewhat a nostalgic car in that we actually used to own one. We were given one many years ago and DREAMED of turning it into a track car. We stripped the interior, cleaned up the engine, and even removed weight. It was with that car, that we learned about over doing things. Drilling out spot welds, removing sound deadening, and gutting the interior all in the hopes to remove a few pounds. We went a little too far and accidently drilled into the gas tank where we decided to abandon the project. Yes, we abandoned the project because we simply drilled into the gas tank. Back then, we didn't have the mechanical expertise that we now have. Heck, we didn't even know how to change the shifter!

Buying one after so many years and being able to do what we always dreamed of seems like a fun time. Hence, why we are going to be bringing all of you on this journey. We are going to turn this $1400 beater into some special, into something we both dreamed of doing to our previous EK Civic.
